The Importance of Companionship
Why Companionship?
At Generations Home Care, we hold to a simple belief: to do the right thing even when no one is looking. We hope that the seniors we provide care for see this belief acted out by all of our team members. We just want to do a good job.
To do home care well, and to provide the best experience for everyone we work with, we stress the importance of two pieces of home care–physical care and companionship care. All GHC team members have been trained to provide excellent physical care. We ensure that your loved one receives the best care available.
Companionship care can be a little bit harder to teach. Some caregivers excel at providing physical care but, for some reason, never connect with their clients. When we first bring on new team members, we spend time talking through different aspects of companionship care because providing excellent companionship care allows us to provide better physical care.
Emotional Care
Aging is difficult. The loss of dignity, ability, friends, and family can cause emotional distress. No one should be left in this despair. Our team members are there to listen to, comfort, and care for your loved ones. So whether it’s a reminiscing about beautiful memories or finding comfort in a walk through a park, we can help. We want your loved one to know that they’re important.
Spiritual Care
When we speak of spiritual care, we don’t mean theology or philosophy. We want our team members to encourage and create a peaceful atmosphere in the home. We don’t want anyone bringing undo stress into your loved one’s life–especially if it can be avoided.
Intellectual Care
We want our team members to engage your loved ones mind. This can be as simple as helping with a crossword, discussing a book, or doing a puzzle. We want to help create new experiences in the winter of your loved one’s life.
Providing excellent physical care and companionship can make all the difference for your loved one. Here at Generations Home Care, we strive to do both in a caring and loving way. If you would like to learn more about how we can assist you or your loved one, give us a call. We can help.
